Managing Director
Born in Argentina, Virginia has got an MSc in Sustainable Environmental Management from the Natural Resources Institute (2007, UK) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from Warwick Business School (2018, UK). Her past experience includes project management at Africa Conservation Fund of an alternative fuels programme in Virunga National Park in DR Congo, project management in Tai National Park, Ivory Coast, for Proyecto Gran Simio, project management of the registered CDM and Gold Standard ICSEA Programme of Activities from Uganda Carbon Bureau in East Africa, and currently serves as a strategic adviser to several organisations seeking access to carbon finance mechanisms in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Energy Advisor
Dr. Wakibi was born in Jinja, and is a marketing scholar, consultant, and development practitioner with over 10 years of professional experience in renewable energy, entrepreneurship development, and sustainability initiatives. He currently serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Marketing and Management at Makerere University Business School (MUBS). He has got a PhD in Marketing, a Master of Business Administration (Marketing) and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing – all from Makerere University Kampala. He supports Simoshi in the schools’ successful energy transition to induction cooking.
Project Officer
Sandra was born in Lira, where she attended primary and secondary school. She joined Simoshi to support with the daily project activities, visiting all participating schools, training of cooks, monitoring of the various indicators, to ensure the optimal use of the institutional improved cook stoves and the achievement of a clean kitchen environment.
IICS Testing
Marius was born in Bushenyi, Western Uganda, and has recently graduated from Kampala International University with a Bachelor in Business Administration. Marius has previously worked as a marketeer with a travel agency, and has a year of experience in the field promoting local travel. She helps Simoshi when testing the institutional improved cook stoves (IICS) in operation is schools since 2016.
Maintenance Officer
Kabogooza was born in Kampala, central Uganda. He gained excellent expertise on stove manufacturing (welding and insulation) while working for Uganda Stove Manufacturers Limited for over four years. Today he supports Simoshi with all repairs and maintenance provided to all participating schools during the three holiday periods throughout the year.
Security Team
These 2 ladies have been rescued from the streets in Kampala, and are the sweetest companions in the office. When things get complicated and stressful, they know how to make us feel relaxed again.
