Many Hands Needed

Some of our institutional improved cook stoves (IICS) have capacities that are too large to be easily transported, while installation becomes a challenge. This week we installed an IICS of 500 litres capacity, and moving it inside the kitchen turned to be a real challenge.

It was a real pity to see the door frame being removed, and part of the walls destroyed, to have the IICS go through. The stove manufacturer delivers the IICS once it has already been assembled and the mandatory days for the drying of the internal combustion chamber have passed. Otherwise, we risk of having cooks lighting the IICS before the bricks and plastering have completely cured and are still holding moisture when exposed to high temperatures, which would result in unnecessary shrinking and cracks.
